I am an associate professor in North American History and Civilization in the Foreign Languages Department at Lyon 2. As a historian of the modern period (PhD, ULB, 2016), my research intersects migration studies, refugee history, and Canadian history, with a particular focus on integrating the experiences of refugees into historical discourse and national narratives. I examine the impact of empires on displacement, considering how colonial legacies continue to influence contemporary realities.
Additionally, I explore innovative approaches to history, including the use of personal archives and memoirs, positioning the historian as both an observer and participant in their own narrative. My work spans transnational memory, expulsion and resettlement policies across the Atlantic world, alongside claims of spatial justice, refugee agency, and gender disparities in migration.
Overall, I aim to enrich historical narratives and foster a deeper understanding of the refugee experience in shaping societies, particularly within Global North and francophone contexts.
