Après 16 ans comme professeur de mathématiques dans l’enseignement secondaire, puis comme chargé de cours (Université d’Utrecht) de formation de professeurs de mathématiques de l’enseignement secondaire, et comme conseiller du Ministerie van Rijkswaterstaat (Ponts et Chaussées), entrée à plein temps (en 1972) dans l’enseignement universitaire (Université Erasmus, Rotterdam) pour les matières (successivement) statistique, recherches opérationnelles, économie mathématique.

Professeur associé, chargé de recherche à Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam depuis 1987, à plein temps jusqu’en 1996 puis à temps partiel jusqu’à la retraite le 1er mai 2002.

Egalement (à temps partiel) professeur invité à l’université de Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (1994), à l’université des Sciences et des Technologies de Lille I (1995) et à l’université de Banda Aceh (Indonésie, depuis 1996).
