Sujet : Ma thèse consiste à rechercher entre les années 1990 et 2015 si l’action collective de Conga à Cajamarca - Pérou peut être considerée un movement social. Pour ce but, l’hypothèse principale se soutien sur l’analyse de deux dimensions de l’action collective : la structure organisationnelle et l’identité idéologique.

Abstract :
We will seek to analyse if the Conga collective action could be defined as a social movement. In other words, if Conga collective action was able to articulate an alternative and dynamic proposal that raised a new form of social relation. In order to reach the research proposal, we will apply a holistic and comprehensive view of social action, a qualitative methodology as well, which will allow us to analyze and interpret relevant actor’s discourses involved in Conga mining project phenomenon. That said, we will dive into its symbolic framework, emotions and feelings.

It is important to note, although the premises could be limited with generalizations within the qualitative methodology framework, Conga social action, taken as a case study, has distinctive characteristics that allow for the elaboration of theoretical proposals applicable outside its temporal, social, economic and political context. Among the main distinctive elements, we find its influence in public policies changes and tools used in the management of similar social phenomenon ; its richness to understand the “scale shift” and its main limitations, and the potential to clearly demonstrate the processes involved in the phenomenon and the distribution of power between actors.
