Tom Dougherty : "Future Bias and Practical Reason"

25 septembre 2015, à 14h, en salle R253, à l’ENS de Lyon (site Descartes)

Intervenant

Tom Dougherty, University of Cambridge.

Thèmes de recherche : philosophie morale et politique.

Résumé : "Is it rational to prefer pain to be in the past rather than the future ? I argue that this preference is irrational, and that instead we should transcend our temporal perspective and adopt a temporally-neutral evaluation of hedonic experiences such as pains and pleasures. My argument is based on the claim that we need to have diachronically stable exchange rates between hedonic experiences and other goods."
